Over 30 Years of Helping Our Communities Develop and Conserve Their Resources

Welcome to Sauk Trails RC&D Council

Sauk Trails RC&D Council is a locally organized and directed program of conservation and rural development.  The Council is a not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code.  Sauk Trails RC&D Council serves the four county region of Allegan, Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties in Southwest Michigan.  We also partner with four Soil and Water Conservation Districts.  There are ten watersheds, 1,570 miles of rivers and streams, 335 small lakes and 85 miles of shoreline.

Our vision is to improve the quality of water, reduce soil erosion, promote strong rural community economic growth, maintain viable agriculture, develop and utilize natural resources in a sustainable manner, and conserve an ecologically healthy environment.   To meet this vision, Sauk Trails RC&D Council works in partnership with local communities to conserve and develop the area's natural resources through projects such as river and shoreline restoration, watershed management, conservation leadership and land stewardship.
